B.E.A.S.T Coordinator

Overview

The Basingstoke East Adventurous Scouting Team (B.E.A.S.T) is a District Scout Active Support Unit (S.A.S.U) made up of volunteers with specialist knowledge and relevant permits to provide more adventurous activities to our members across the district.

The team provides the specialist knowledge and skills for groups to run these events as well as putting on district level events.

Just as important as leading the young people is supporting the adults who do so and this role is all about helping to organise our adventurous activities. This is a very flexible role and can be completed entirely remotely if you wish. You’ll be lining up instructors for sessions with group, organising venues and booking training courses for our unit members.

Main contacts: Active Support Unit Manager, Unit Members, Venues, Group & Section Leaders, Training Advisors

Traning: You’ll be required to complete the Essential Information, GDPR, Safety & Safeguarding training modules only. These will need to be completed within 5 months of starting the role.

Main Tasks

  • Work closely with the unit manager to understand availability of activities.
  • Liaising with unit members and group leaders to book in sessions.
  • Booking leaders onto training courses as required.
  • Sending unit communications to members.
  • Supporting the unit manager as required.

Time Commitment

No specific time commitment is required and the role is flexible to fit around you. This role can be handled completely remotely if you wish. This role is perfect for someone who’d like a very light involvement in Scouting.
